ICE 'Not Expected' At This Airport On Day 1 Of Trump Order, Official Says

No U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were expected at BWI Marshall Airport on Monday, Patch was told, as TSA lines grew.

ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are unlikely to make an appearance at BWI Marshall Airport to assist with any security checks, Patch was informed.

Jonathan Dean, the airport's director of communications, told Patch that "ICE personnel are not expected to be present" on Monday.

Patch contacted the Department of Homeland Security and was told the agency would not be specifying whether agents would have a footprint at any of the major D.C.-area airports.

A list of 14 impacted airports obtained by ABC News does not list BWI Marshall, Reagan National, or Dulles airports.

President Donald Trump announced over the weekend that ICE agents would be deployed to airports, starting Monday, as a means to fill airport security gaps during the partial government shutdown.

The order came as officers with the Transportation Security Administration either quit or continued to call out for shifts while they went more than five weeks without pay.

A DHS statement attributed to acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said that Trump "is using every tool available to help American travelers who are facing hours long lines at airports across the country—especially during this spring break and holiday season that is very important for many American families."

Dean told Patch that passenger wait times at BWI Marshall security checkpoints were "normal" and had "no unusual or excessive lines."

Although both of the airport's A and B security checkpoints are closed, Dean said the C and D/E checkpoints "remain open and operational this afternoon." However, those conditions could change later in the day.
