Local Companies Among Inc. Magazine's 'Best Places To Work' in US

Two local businesses earned spots on the fourth annual list of exceptional workplaces nationwide.

MILLERSVILLE, MD -- Two local companies made Inc. magazine's list of "The 346 Best Places to Work in 2019" released Friday. One is from Millersville and the other from Annapolis Junction. The best places to work list is an annual compilation of companies the publication considers to be ideal work environments based upon several established criteria.

"A record number of companies clamored for recognition in our fourth annual Best Workplaces survey," Inc. magazine analysts wrote. "In a tight labor market, these businesses are out to nab top-performing employees by making life on the job ever more rewarding."

Companies making the list can be searched by state, industry, company size, and benefits —including generous parental leave, onsite medical and fitness, pet-friendly policies, tuition reimbursement, and more.

The two businesses on the list are:

  • CK Commercial, a commercial construction company based in Millersville founded in 2015 with a reported 2018 revenue of $10 million to $20 million.
  • Synergist Computing, a software firm based out of Annapolis Junction providing enterprise integration, application development, software modernization, information management, and big-data analytics with a reported 2018 revenue of $5 million to $10 million.

Employees from almost 2,000 companies of all sizes and industries were surveyed by Omaha's Quantum Workplace. Subjects that employees were questioned about included trust, management effectiveness, perks and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed and audited the data. Once gathered, the data then determined ranking with use of a composite score of survey results.
