Man Tries To Have Sexual Meetup With Minor: Police
He thought he was talking to a teenage boy. In reality, it was a state trooper. An attempted sexual encounter led to his arrest, police say.
LAUREL, MD — Last Thursday, an Anne Arundel County man tried have a sexual meetup with a minor in Prince George's County, police said. Troopers arrested the suspect, charging him with sexual solicitation of a minor.
The situation started while a trooper was monitoring an online dating app, posing as a 14-year-old male. Police said the accused Hanover man, Ricardo Xavier Castillo, started a conversation with the undercover trooper.
Castillo, 52, suggested meeting for a sexual encounter that day in Laurel, the incident report noted. The writeup added that Castillo arrived at the site just after 5 p.m. The Maryland State Police arrested Castillo on the spot with support from the FBI’s Maryland Child Exploitation Task Force.

Castillo will next appear in court on Jan. 4, 2021. His case does not yet list a trial date.
