After Maryland Live! Disruption, D.C Man Faces Drug Charges: Police
Amid the search for a suspect, police said a crowd left the casino at Arundel Mills Friday night.

(Updated at 6:15 p.m.) HANOVER, MD — Police said that people fled from Maryland Live! overnight while authorities arrested the suspect in a police chase that coursed from MD 295 to Arundel Mills. Three people were hospitalized from the casino, officials reported.
Larry Browne, 43, of the 4400 block of Quarles Street Northeast in Washington, D.C., was charged with felony drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana, disorderly conduct and distribution of paraphernalia, court records show. Bail was set at $5,000.
Browne was arrested at the casino after a pursuit that began in another jurisdiction, Anne Arundel County police said. At 11 p.m. on Friday, its officers learned that Prince George's police were chasing a vehicle in the area of MD 295 that had allegedly been involved in a carjacking. After ending up in the parking garage in the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle, the suspect — who was the only person in the vehicle — went into Maryland Live!

The suspect was believed to have been involved in a nonfatal shooting before 10 p.m. in Washington, D.C., according to Fox 5, which reported nobody was shot at the casino. After the D.C. shooting, police said the suspect headed northeast in a black Jeep Cherokee with Maryland tags.
At the casino, "the suspect was arrested without a struggle," according to a statement from the Anne Arundel County Police Department. "However, due to the numerous police involved in a short search in and around the casino, a partial evacuation of the casino occurred as patrons fled the area while the police search was conducted."

Patrons left on their own — police did not order that the casino be evacuated — officials said, stating casino-goers exited amid the emergency response prompted by the search for the suspect, which lasted from 11 to 11:30 p.m.
Anne Arundel County police then briefly searched for any weapons or contraband the suspect may have disposed of in a hallway and bathroom where he was seen on video, but no weapons were found.
At approximately midnight, authorities said Browne was in custody and had been taken to a local police department, where D.C. Metropolitan Police were continuing the investigation.
Three people from the casino were hospitalized with minor injuries, according to the Anne Arundel Fire Department, which evaluated a total of six people; three declined medical transport. It was not immediately available how they became injured.
Browne was charged in Anne Arundel County with drug offenses; his vehicle did not appear to be involved with a carjacking in Washington, D.C., police said. The investigation continues in other jurisdictions.
