Men Arrested For Thefts From Vehicles In Severn, Odenton: Police

Anne Arundel County officers have noticed an increase in items stolen from vehicles; two men were arrested recently in Severn and Odenton.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Anne Arundel County police officers arrested two men in connection with recent vehicle thefts in Severn and Odenton. The area has seen an increase in such incidents and officers were on patrol Feb. 19 in the area of Graybird Court and Stillmeadows Drive. One of the officers spied a man walking along the sidewalk drop a black object, which the officer later discovered was a black leather wallet.

The man was detained and officers discovered he had two other items not belonging to him that contained money. Officers contacted the person who owned the wallet and he confirmed it was his. They then went to the victim's vehicle, a 2015 Buick Regal, and found the driver's door ajar. The suspect, Devante Demarrio Allen, 25, of Severn, was arrested and charged with rogue and vagabond, and theft less than $100.

On the same day in Odenton, officers responded to a call about suspicious activity in the 100 block of Pine Cove Avenue. Callers reported seeing a male pulling on vehicle door handles and looking into vehicles parked along the street. An additional call came in about a man removing an item from a vehicle and leaving the area toward Town Center Boulevard on a red scooter. An officer located the man on the scooter and found him to be in possession of property stolen from one of the vehicles. The suspect, Eric Hinton, 50, of Annapolis, was arrested and charged with rogue and vagabond, and theft $100 to $1,500.

Anne Arundel County officers continue to patrol neighborhoods looking for suspicious activity related to theft from vehicles and remind community members to always lock their vehicles, hide or remove valuables, and always report suspicious activity to police.
