Mother Reports Child Sexually Assaulted, Police Seek More Victims

A Baltimore man is charged with attempted rape in a Severn case, and Anne Arundel County Police are seeking more child victims.

SEVERN, MD — Authorities have arrested a man for sexually assaulting a child at a Severn residence, and want any other victims to contact investigators. Anne Arundel County Police were contacted just after 3 a.m. Wednesday by the mother of a young child; she told officers the youngers was sexually assaulted by a man Tuesday evening. The accused assailant was identified as Christopher Richardson Sr., 49, from the 1600 block of North Smallwood Street in Baltimore.

Detectives executed multiple search warrants and collected evidence related to the crime. An arrest warrant was obtained for Richardson charging him with attempted first- and second-degree rape along with other associated crimes.

Richardson was arrested without incident Wednesday night in the 11000 block of York Road in Cockeysville. He is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on a no-bond status.

Investigators say the assault was not a random act of violence. Anne Arundel County Police urge any other victims or anyone with information about Richardson to contact the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733.
