A Hanover motorcyclist has died at an area hospital from injuries he suffered after a minivan backed into him in Harmans, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Stephen N. Briggs, 56, of Hanover, was westbound on Dorsey Road Saturday when it struck the driver’s side of a Ford minivan pulling out from a driveway across from Sandalwood Court, police say. Briggs, who wore a helmet, was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he died on Monday.

The driver in the minivan -- Jon E. Curry, 65, of La Luz, NM -- was not hurt.

Investigators say the crash appears to have been caused by Curry’s failure to yield to traffic on the roadway. There were no signs of excessive speed or alcohol use.

Charges have not been filed, say police, who are consulting with the state’s attorney office.
