A release from the department also states a medical ambulance bus — intended for any mass-casualty event — will be stationed at the new firehouse.

The opening of the new site, however, means the closure of the Herald Harbor Volunteer Fire Department on Hall Road.

The department acknowledged that while the closure marks "the end of an era," it also means "the beginning of a new chapter in emergency service delivery for the surrounding communities and Anne Arundel County."
