Odenton Firefighter, Paramedic Of The Year Honored
The Veterans of Foreign Wars recently honored the firefighter and paramedic of the year in the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company.
From Odenton Volunteer FD: Zachary Zwicker received the VFW Post 160, Firefighter of the Year on February 11, 2019. Zack joined the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) in 2017. He was an active volunteer firefighter in Florida and Pennsylvania. Since joining OVFC, he has taken multiple classes and is certified as a Maryland Emergency Medical Technician – Basic.
Zack is one of the “go-to” guys at the OVFC. He is very active, riding two 12-hour shifts each week. He is also very active in the community, raising donations for firefighter related charities. Zack was the organizer and chairman of the Baltimore Tunnel to Towers Climb, as well as being a member of the OVFC team at the event. He also was co-captain of the OVFC team in two stair climbing events, one in Baltimore and the other in Cape Henlopen, Delaware. Through his efforts, the team was recognized as the top fundraiser in both events. This would lead to Zack and the OVFC team being invited to a special event in New York City. He organized a team of five members to represent OVFC for the 17th annual Steven Sillers Tunnel to Towers Run at the 9/11 memorial weekend in New York City. All funds went towards the construction of handicapped accessible homes for our nation's wounded veterans and first responders.
Zack hails from Warrington, Pennsylvania. He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and received an MBA degree from Norwich University. He is presently employed as a Site Manager for Advanced Technology Services.

ADRIANA BOJORQUEZ
Odenton Volunteer Fire Company VFW Post 160, Emergency Medical Technician of the Year
Adriana Bojorquez received the VFW Post 160, Emergency Medical Technician of the Year award on February 11, 2019. Adriana joined Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) in September of 2017. She is a Navy spouse and consistently attends and staffs the ambulance even as a working mother of two small children. Adriana is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B). She also completed the mandatory 24-hour Hazardous Materials Operations course

Upon Adriana’s completion of EMT-B training, she quickly established herself as a valuable member of the OFVC Wednesday duty crew. She stepped up to the challenge to become the primary ambulance aide on Wednesday nights, filling a critical need after the departure of previous crew members. Adriana’s performance as the primary care provider aboard OVFC’s Ambulance 289 has been exemplary. She demonstrates rapport with patients and the ability to comfort them in their most stressful moments. She exhibits outstanding abilities as an EMT-B and provides patients with the best possible medical care.
