Odenton Motorcyclist Dies In Severn Crash With Truck

An Odenton motorcyclist died Friday when his bike crossed the center line and collided with a Peterbuilt truck driven by a Glen Burnie man.

SEVERN, MD — An Odenton motorcyclist died Friday when his bike crossed the center line and collided with a Peterbuilt truck driven by a Glen Burnie man, according to Anne Arundel County Police. The crash happened just after 2:30 p.m. on Dicus Mill Road east of Burns Crossing Road in Severn.

A 2014 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Andres Ricardo Porras, 42, of the 300 block of Baldwin Road in Odenton, was westbound on Dicus Mill Road. Police say Porras lost control of the motorcycle, which crossed the centercline and struck an eastbound truck. The 2009 Peterbuilt truck was driven by Joseph Edward Freeman, 45, of the 700 block of Marley Avenue in Glen Burnie.

Porras was declared dead at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel. Authorities say Freeman was not injured.

Police say the primary cause of the crash was Porras' failure to remain right of center. It is unclear at this time if speed, drugs, or alcohol were involved. The States Attorney's Office will review the case upon completion of the investigation.
