Odenton Teen Dies After Shooting In North Laurel: Police
A 14-year-old boy from Odenton has died, and two Laurel teens are being charged as adults with murder, Howard County police say.

NORTH LAUREL, MD — Two Laurel teens are being charged as adults in the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy from Odenton, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Xavier Cole Young, 14, of Odenton, was flown to Johns Hopkins Hospital after the shooting on Saturday night in the 9000 block of North Laurel Road, police said. He was pronounced deceased from his injuries Monday morning, authorities reported.
Two Laurel teens have been arrested in connection with the shooting, according to police, who allege the incident was drug-related.

Luis Gerardo Ordonez, 19, of the 9200 block of Redbridge Court, and Francisco J. Rodriguez, 16, of the 9000 block of North Laurel Road, will be charged with murder, assault, reckless endangerment and firearms violations, police said.
According to authorities, Ordonez and Rodriguez were among a group of teens who met around 11 p.m on Saturday in the 9000 block of North Laurel Road for a coordinated drug deal when there was an altercation and one shot was fired from a car window. The suspects left in a black sedan, police said.

Through investigation, officials said they learned Ordonez and Rodriguez were involved in the shooting. Police found them in a black Nissan Altima early Monday morning on Harvest View Court in Ellicott City, where authorities reported there was a handgun in the car at the time, and the suspects were arrested.
Officials said Ordonez and Rodriguez were initially charged with attempted murder, and the charges are being upgraded after Young died from his injuries.
Ordonez and Rodriguez are being held without bail at the Howard County Detention Center. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Howard County police at 410-313-STOP.
