Odenton Volunteer Fire Company Inducts Honorary Lifetime Members
The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company has inducted three honorary lifetime members into its fold, including one soon-to-be centenarian.
ODENTON, MD -- The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company confirmed three community leaders as honorary lifetime members on July 9. Bert Rice, Alfred Shehab and Norman Meyers (now deceased) were all honored at a ceremony at the monthly OVFC membership meeting in July.
Meyer’s widow, Maureen Meyers, was on hand to receive the posthumous award for her husband, along with her daughter Ann Walls. Rice was unable to attend because he was out of state. Alfred Shehab was accompanied by Ruth Hamilton, who also presented the Military Order of the World Wars Silver Patrick Henry award to long time OVFC member Wylie Donaldson for his contributions to the community. Shebab will turn 100 Sept. 18.
Their biographies detailing their intriguing lives can be viewed on the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company's website.
