Odenton's Blockbuster Video to Close

The store on Annapolis Road will shutter its doors on April 10.

Blockbuster Video will be closing its store on Annapolis Road, and is in the process of selling off its inventory.

The Odenton location of the video rental chain is just one of the latest in widespread closures by the company since it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September.

The store will officially close on April 10. Between now and then, customers can purchase videos, DVDs and video games at deep discounts. Previously viewed DVDs are now all $5.99, with new DVDs selling for $9.99.

Blockbuster has struggled with declining sales at its stores as people have turned to competitors such as Netflix and RedBox. It filed for bankruptcy last year to get out from under more than $1 billion in debt.

On March 11, the company announced that a court would manage an auction process, allowing outside firms to bid on the company’s assets.
