Patch's Happy Hour: Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri

Today's specialty drink, brought to you by Patch's Happy Hour.

With temperatures forecast into the 90s this weekend, we decided to hook you up with something to cool you down.

A popular drink in the summer heat, and argued to be Ernest Hemingway's favorite drink, the Daiquiri is typically composed of white rum and fruit.

This recipe for a Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri comes from Toren Martin, a frequent patron of the Triple Nines Bar off of Route 1 in Elkridge.

Martin suggests using Sprite but says that any lemon-lime soda will do the trick.

6 cups ice

1/2 cup white sugar

4 ounces frozen strawberries

1/8 cup lime juice

1/2 cup lemon juice

3/4 cup rum

1/4 cup lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

To give the Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri a try:

Pour the ice, sugar and strawberries into a blender.

Add the lime juice, lemon juice, rum and Sprite. Blend until smooth.

Pour into glasses and garnish with a lime wedge.

Enjoy, but beware the brain freeze!
