Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit by Car in Odenton: 1 Year Ago in Odenton

Anne Arundel County Police say a woman died Monday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle in Odenton.

Tamika Bailey, 28, of Severn, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers responded just after 2 p.m. Monday to Annapolis Road near Oakton Road, according to public information officer Justin Mulcahy.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Annapolis Road where no pedestrian control devices exist and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound,” Mulcahy said in a statement.

The vehicle was a 1998 Chevrolet S10 driven by a Fort Meade woman, 28.

Pedestrian error appears to be the main cause of the collision, according to police. The investigation continues.

The department said via its Twitter account about 3 p.m. that Route 175 near Stoney Hill would be closed for several hours.
