Pedestrian Left in Road By Hit-and-Run Driver: Police
A man suffered critical head and pelvis injuries after being hit by a vehicle on Laurel-Fort Meade Road (MD-198) Friday night, police say.

MARYLAND CITY, MD — A critically injured man found lying in the middle of the road “mumbling he was struck by a vehicle” was the victim of a hit-and-run driver, authorities say.
The accident happened just before 10 p.m. Friday on Laurel-Fort Meade Road (MD-198) eastbound near Old Annapolis Road in Maryland City, say Anne Arundel County Police. Bystanders found David Charles Wallace Miles, 45, of no fixed address, semi-conscious in the center lane of the three-lane roadway.
Miles had suffered head and pelvis injuries when he was hit by a vehicle that left the scene.

No witness reported seeing the collision and it is unknown what possible damage may exist. Passers-by reported seeing a dark- colored SUV, possibly an Audi, stopped just beyond where Miles was laying, but it is unknown if this was the suspect vehicle.
Miles was taken by police helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say it appear Miles didn’t yield to vehicular traffic while crossing the roadway outside a crosswalk. It is unknown whether alcohol was involved.
