The community association will host the development team and members of the community on Aug. 8.

The Piney Orchard Community Association will host a meeting on Aug. 8 to get details about plans for the Two Rivers development and new elementary school.
The association has invited the members of the development team, including Koch Homes and Classic Communities Corp., to discuss their proposal, which calls for 2,060 homes and the construction of a new school to the south of Piney Orchard.
The meeting will be held at the Piney Orchard Community Center at 7 p.m.

This will be the first time the developers have met publicly with Piney Orchard residents.
POCA President Jeff Andrade said the developers had sought to meet privately with POCA officials first, but that he insisted the meeting be open to community.

He said the POCA board has not yet voted on whether to support or oppose the proposal, but could do so after getting details. Andrade and other Piney Orchard residents have expressed concern about the location of the school several miles to the north of Two Rivers, as well plans for the extension of Evergreen Road.
The Two Rivers developers presented their plans for the elementary school to the Anne Arundel Board of Education on July 11. The board did not vote on the concept proposal at the time, but could take it up again at its next meeting on Aug. 22. Andrade said he has urged the board to consider moving that meeting to the evening, so that more of the public will be able to attend.
