Police: Pot Smell Coming from Car

A Severn traffic stop led to charges against the unlicensed driver and a man reportedly carrying a gun.

A Severn traffic stop led to a range of charges from driving without a license to weapons charges, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Stillmeadows Drive and Eagle Court in Severn about midnight Wednesday. A marijuana odor came from the 2005 Lincoln and its occupants, police said.

The driver, Dawn C. Rothe, 51, was driving on a suspended license, police say.

When officers searched the Lincoln and its occupants, they found a loaded .32 caliber revolver concealed by the passenger, Samuel Jones, 19.

Jones was charged with several felony handgun violations and violation of probation related to previous handgun offenses.

Rothe was charged with driving with a suspended license.
