POLL: Should Developers Build Along North Patuxent?

The Odenton Town Center Plan Oversight Committee has opposed plans for 48 townhomes and 3 single-family homes near North Patuxent Road and Becknel Avenue. The county could approve the plans anyway.

After more than a year of discussions, the voted this week against a proposal to build new homes along North Patuxent Road.

The committee voted 4-2 against the plan by near North Patuxent Road and Becknel Avenue.

Opponents said the concept plan showed too much home density for the area, and asked the developer to consider reducing the number of houses by a third. Neighbors and local historians were among those who said the project would not be in keeping with the area, which is currently comprised of mostly older, single-family dwellings.

Supporters of the plan said it is in keeping with efforts to bring along the Odenton Town Center, which emphasizes dense development near the center o town and near the MARC station.

County planners will have the final say on whether the project will go through.
