School Board to Hear More on Two Rivers

A plan for a new elementary school to the south of the Waugh Chapel Towne Centre will once again be on the agenda when the Anne Arundel County Board of Education meets Wednesday.

The board will have a discussion about the proposal, which calls for a developer to build a $38 million school to accommodate new homes in west Anne Arundel County. Koch Homes and Classic Communities Corp. have plans for 2,060 homes at the south end of Odenton and Gambrills, in a project known as the Preserve at Two Rivers.

The school, located to the northeast of the development, would serve students from Two Rivers as well as other future development in the area.

School board members—three of whom live in Odenton and Gambrills—have expressed some concerns about the plan, which calls for an extension of Evergreen Road to Strawberry Lake Way.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. According to the agenda, the board will take up the Two Rivers issue sometime between 11 a.m. and a break for lunch. Members are not expected to vote on the plan until the September meeting.
