“We really didn’t know much about the location, but we knew Jon and he let us know this was vacant,” Nezam said. ”There’s a lot of potential here.”
Seven Oaks Cleaners specializes in “organic” dry cleaning, with an emphasis on environmentally sound processes. All of the cleaning is done on site.
Nezam said he was aware that the area was growing population due to the transformation at Fort Meade. Landlords are currently working to lease a 69,000-square-foot office building in the center, which could bring additional traffic.
Ali Mamdouhi is expected to be the man on site in Odenton most days. He joined the business after seven years in the U.S. Navy and a long stint working in the health club industry.
Nezam and Fred Mamdouhi, Ali's uncle, opened their first dry cleaning store in 1982 in Washington, DC. They expanded to open shops in Springfield, VA, and Rockville, MD, and now own a total of four stores. They plan to add a fifth in Germantown, MD, next month.
Seven Oaks is currently offering several specials, including a discount on all dry cleaning, as well as shirts cleaned for 99 cents if you bring four.
