Driver Dies In Severn Crash After Leaving Roadway: Police

A driver died after a single-vehicle crash in Severn, police said. The victim was 56 years old.

SEVERN, MD — Police announced that an Anne Arundel County resident died after a Severn crash on Thursday. Officers identified the victim as 56-year-old Nileshkumar Vinodchandra Desai of Severn.

Desai was heading south in the 200 block of Constant Avenue in a 2002 Toyota Tundra around 8:30 p.m. Authorities reported that the pick-up truck crossed into the northbound lane, left the roadway and hit multiple trees before overturning.

A passerby discovered the truck. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department pronounced the victim dead on the scene, a press release said.

Detectives think the cause of the accident was the truck's failure to stay in a single lane. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating.
