Severn Kitchen Fire Displaces Family

The accidental kitchen fire in a Severn townhome caused an estimated $25,000 damage, says the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

SEVERN, MD — A kitchen fire Wednesday caused an estimated $25,000 damage and left a Severn family homeless, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Arwell Court in Severn.

Firefighters reported smoke coming from the front and the eaves of a two-story middle-of-the-group townhouse. It took firefighters less than 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze, which did not spread to the adjoining homes.

The fire was determined to be accidental.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross is assisting one adult and two children with temporary housing.
