SEVERN, MD — Police arrested a Severn man on Monday, charging him with an August attempted murder. The accused 32 year old, Deontray Jammie Poole, faces 18 charges related to the crime.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department secured a warrant for Poole's arrest on Aug. 6. On Monday, the U.S. Marshalls Task Force found Poole at a Baltimore home in the 4700 block of Old York Road, police say. The task force is a federal policing group that helps local departments find wanted suspects.

Poole was arrested without incident. Officers noted that they found a .22-caliber Ruger handgun and .22-caliber ammunition during the encounter.

The shooting in question hospitalized a man on Aug. 5, police say. The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Jamestown Drive in Severn.

Officers claim they found the male victim laying on the floor of a home, suffering from wounds to his upper body. The suspect shot the man after they got into a fight outside, police allege. The accused man then fled the scene, according to an incident report.

Anne Arundel County police gave the victim first aid until medics took him to an unnamed hospital, the report notes. He is expected to live.

A bullet from the shooting also damaged a nearby home, police believe. The affected house is in the 1200 block of Chestnut Street. As a bird flies, that's about a quarter mile away from the crime scene. Chestnut Street does not directly connect to Jamestown Drive.

The owner of the home called police just before 8 the next morning, reporting a small hole in one of her windows. She noticed the puncture around 6:45 a.m.

The woman said she heard a loud pop around 8 p.m. the day prior, which was around the time the victim was shot. Police did not find a bullet inside the Chestnut Street residence.
