Severn Man Faces Robbery, Drug Charges after Holdup
A woman said she was flagged down by a man she knew, only to have another man take her purse at gunpoint in Laurel.

A Severn man faces robbery and narcotics charges after a woman had her purse stolen at gunpoint Friday night at the intersection of Whiskey Bottom Road and Spring Road in Laurel.
The victim told Anne Arundel County Police that she and another woman were driving near the intersection when they were flagged down by one of the suspects, whom they knew. The driver said she got out of her vehicle to get into the suspect’s vehicle when two men came out of the nearby tree line and demanded her purse.
One of the suspects showed a handgun. One suspect fled on foot with the victim’s purse, while the second kicked the victim’s car door, causing damage to it, and then fled on foot.

The suspect driving the vehicle left, but a description was broadcast, and the suspect was located a short time later near the intersection of Rt. 175 and Ridge Road.
The driver was arrested without incident. Police say during a search of the suspect vehicle they found three vials of suspected PCP. Tyrell Brown, 45, of 8209 Durness Court in Severn, was arrested and charged with robbery, conspiracy, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and traffic charges.

The second suspect was described as a black mam, about 5’9”, wearing blue jeans, a black jacket with hoodie, a goatee and armed with a handgun. The only description given for the third suspect was a black man wearing blue jeans.
The women robbed were not injured.
