Severn Man Hits Student While Driving School Bus: Police
School bus driver Serigne Makhtar Ndiaye, 53, of Severn, was driving his route in Bethesda when he struck and killed a nine-year-old.
SEVERN, MD — A 53-year-old Severn man driving a school bus in Bethesda for Montgomery County Public Schools struck and killed a nine-year-old student after she had gotten off the bus. The incident happened near Tanglewood Drive and Millwood Road at approximately 3:50 p.m.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, bus driver Serigne Makhtar Ndiaye had turned right onto northbound Millwood Road from westbound Tanglewood Drive after unloading several students when he hit the nine-year-old. Police said they do not know what happened right before the incident occurred, but an investigation is ongoing.
