Severn Man Receives 25 Years for Sexually Abusing Toddler

A Severn man was sentenced Monday to serve 25 years in prison after he admitted he sexually abused a toddler left in his care and produced child pornography.

Police received a report March 21 that a child left in the care of Darrius Eric Carr, 22, was sexually abused over the course of several days, Patch earlier reported. Carr had no fixed address, and was arrested April 8 in Harford County.

Along with the prison time, Carr must register as a sex offender when he is released, a judge ruled, and remain on supervised probation for the rest of his life, reports the Capital-Gazette.

Carr was initially charged with sex abuse of a minor, third- and fourth-degree sex offenses, second-degree assault, and production and possession of child pornography.

Carr entered his plea in November in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, The Capital-Gazette reports.

According to court records, Carr moved in with a family in March to care for the couple’s young children. The newspaper says that on two occasions while the parents were at work and Carr was alone with the children, he produced photos and two videos of himself engaging in sexually explicit conduct with the couple’s young daughter.

Investigators say that Carr stored more than 600 pornographic images of prepubescent minors, and videos, on his social media accounts.
