Severn Man Strikes Millersville Resident With Truck: Police

Witnesses reported a man speeding through the neighborhood in a truck. Two people tried slowing him down; the driver struck one of them.

MILLERSVILLE, MD — A Severn man has been arrested after Anne Arundel County police officers say he hit a Millersville resident with his vehicle. Officers arrived at Oakdale Circle May 2 at approximately 1:10 p.m. for a report of an assault. Witnesses reported a man speeding through the neighborhood in a blue Chevy Silverado. When one homeowner attempted to slow down the driver, the man pulled out a shotgun and racked it. The vehicle drove off and the homeowner returned to her residence.

But the vehicle returned and a second resident attempted to slow it down by holding out his hand. The driver swerved at the victim and hit him with his truck. According to a report from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver, Nikolas Matthew Riley, 19, from the 1400 block of Georgia Avenue in Severn. Riley has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault.

The shotgun was located by officers and recovered from the vehicle. The victim was treated at the scene by fire department personnel. Anyone with any information pertaining to this case is asked to call the Western District Detective Unit at 410-222-6155.
