Severn Mom Dies While Hiking In Weekend Heat
A 32-year-old mother of three died while hiking in Montgomery County during the hot weekend weather.

SEVERN, MD — An Anne Arundel County mother of three died of hyperthermia while hiking along the Billy Goat Trail in Anne Arundel County Saturday, July 20. According to the U.S. Park Police, officers were summoned to the trail at 1:55 p.m. on the report of an unconscious woman suffering a medical emergency.
Montgomery County emergency personnel responded and performed CPR on Rachel Parkerson, 32, of Severn until a U.S. Park Police helicopter arrived and transported her to Suburban Hospital were she eventually died. Temperatures on that day were in the upper 90s with the heat indices surpassing 100 degrees.
Parkerson's family has set up a GoFundMe page for Parkerson's three children. The administers of that page described her as a "vibrant soul who brought joy and laughter to anyone who met her."
