Shots Fired Near Vigil For Thanksgiving Homicide Victim: Police
Loved ones gathered to remember the victim of a Thanksgiving shooting, but the vigil turned violent, Anne Arundel County police said.

SEVERN, MD — Loved ones and police officers gathered in Severn to remember Louis Guy Newman III at a Sunday afternoon vigil. The 20-year-old Glen Burnie man died after a triple shooting at a Thanksgiving football game, police said.
That ceremony turned violent around 2:55 p.m. when officers in attendance heard the sound of gunshots, an incident report noted. Police added that they ran toward the noise and found a man firing bullets into the air.
Officers told the man to put his .32-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver on the ground, and he complied, the report added. Police then arrested the suspect, identified as Mark Anthony Artison.
