Store Clerk Uses Pepper Spray on Would-Be Robber

The Odenton store employee reportedly doused a man carrying a gun with pepper spray and he fled empty-handed.

ODENTON, MD — An Odenton store clerk turned the tables on a would-be armed robber, police say.

A man came into Factory Direct Video Outlet, 1634 Annapolis Road in Odenton just before 11 p.m. Saturday. Employees told police the suspect showed a handgun, and announced a robbery.

Officers say the clerk used pepper spray on the suspect and the would-be robber fled the shop in an unknown vehicle.

The suspect did not take any items or cash from the store.

Police units, including canine, searched the area but failed to find the suspect.

The robber is described by police as a white man between 20 and 30 years old, 5’7” to 5’10”, medium build, wearing a grey sweatshirt.
