Suspected Drugs, Loaded Gun Found During Traffic Stop: Police

Police said they found suspected drugs and a loaded gun in a Hanover traffic stop. Officers noted they arrested the Baltimore driver.

HANOVER, MD — Police said they found a loaded gun as well as suspected cocaine and heroin/fentanyl during a Thursday traffic stop in Hanover. Authorities reported they arrested the accused Baltimore driver around 12:10 p.m. near the intersection of Parkway Drive and National Drive.

An officer noted they pulled the driver over after noticing the vehicle's front bumper dragging on the ground. The officer's conversation with the driver led to a search of the vehicle, officials added. Police explained that they found:

  • A small amount of suspected cocaine
  • A capsule containing suspected heroin/fentanyl
  • A loaded 9 mm Fabrique Nationale pistol

The suspect is legally prohibited from owning guns, an incident report informed. The Anne Arundel County Police Department identified the arrestee as 32-year-old Willie Michael Simms.
