Teen Shot On Playground, Several Buildings Damaged By Gunfire In Severn: Police

A 15-year-old was shot on a Severn playground, police said. The gunfire hospitalized the boy and damaged several buildings.

SEVERN, MD — A 15-year-old boy was shot Thursday on a Severn playground, county police announced. Officers said the victim was hospitalized, but they expect him to survive.

Authorities heard about the shooting in the 8100 block of Meade Village Circle around 12:50 p.m. Upon their arrival, police said they learned that four males pulled up in a dark SUV and started shooting toward the playground.

Somebody on the playground returned fire on the original suspects before fleeing, officers said.

Detectives said they found multiple shell casings. Several buildings were also damaged by the gunfire.

Authorities think this was a targeted shooting, not a random act of violence.
