Woman Forced To Make Bank Withdrawal: Police

A Severn man is accused of threatening to harm a woman and her children if she didn't withdraw money from an Odenton bank, police say.

ODENTON, MD — A Severn man is accused of threatening to harm a woman and her children if she didn't withdraw money from an Odenton bank and turn it over to him, Anne Arundel County Police say. Jermaine Anthony Ricks, 32, of the 8100 block of Meade Village Road in Severn faces multiple charges in the case.

Police were called to the M&T Bank at 1531 Blair Drive in Odenton Tuesday afternoon about a fraud complaint. A bank employee had called police to report a man in the bank — later identified as Ricks — appeared to be attempting to force a woman to withdraw money from her account.

When a police officer spoke to Ricks, he fled from the bank, but was apprehended a short distance away. The victim told investigators that Ricks threatened to hurt her and her children if she did not take him to the bank and withdraw money.
