Woman Running Through Gaps in Traffic Hit By Car: Police
A Severn woman who tried to run across Crain Highway outside an intersection was hit by a Bowie driver.

A Severn woman suffered a serious head injury when she was struck by a car in Crofton Wednesday night, authorities say.
The accident happened about 8:30 p.m. at Crain Highway southbound (MD-3) just south of Conway Road/Davidsonville Road (MD-424).
Anne Arundel County Police say Cayleigh S. McGonigle, 19, of Severn was with a group of friends who were trying to cross four-lane Crain Highway about 100 yards south of the intersection, near the Nautilus Diner. The pedestrians were running between gaps in traffic when McGonigle was hit.

Police say the preliminary cause of the crash appears to be McGonigle’s failure to yield the right of way to traffic when crossing the roadway outside an intersection. Neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the accident.
