For Sale: Owings Mills Mall?
Councilwoman Vicki Almond says potential buyers may be stepping up but any word of a sale is 'conjecture.'

Talk at community association meetings in Owings Mills has been of a potential sale of Owings Mills Mall, but Baltimore County councilwoman Vicki Almond says the future of the mall is uncertain.
"It's just really, on their part, it's just conjecture," said Almond of whispers the mall is close to being sold. "I havenβt had anybody bring me any plans."
But Almond said she thinks mall owner General Growth Properties, Inc., is hearing from potential buyers.

"I do believe there are people looking at it. I really do believe that part," she said. "I donβt know who."
Kimco Realty, a developer of outdoor shopping centers, was , but county councilman Ken Oliver said in September it appeared to him that Kimco was not interested.

A source told Patch, however, that the developer is still looking at the property. Representatives at General Growth and Kimco did not respond to requests for comment last week.
In September, a General Growth spokesman declined to comment on the mall property.
The Owings Mills Mall has struggled to regain its footing in the community after a number of high-end stores left the mall in the 1990s and an incident in 1992 in which a 28-year-old woman was killed on a path between the metro station and the shopping center.
Police statistics, however, have shown the mall is some perceive it to be.
