…And the list of questions, concerns and moments of hesitation just keep on coming and driving us as parents and coaches crazy. Just how do we respond, not respond, when do we hold our tongue and when do we go to the doctor, or frightfully worse, the emergency room?

Truth is, we all face these moments of indecision and uncertainty with our kids. When they are involved in sports, games and special activities, the questions just multiply.

The good folks at Baltimore County’s Department of Recreation and Parks are thoughtfully thinking about you and your kids.

In response to these questions and more, Recreation and Parks in partnership with Towson Sports Medicine and Righttime Medical Care have created the new “Speaker Series.” This series is designed to answer your questions and concerns about your youngster’s experiences on the field, in the gym and all places they are active.

“It’s just a fact of life” shared one Recreation and Parks professional, “when you’re actively involved, things are going to “happen.” It’s the choice you make after these things “happen” that determine how long before you get back into the game or have to sit out to be safe”.

“Our speakers are professionals and well versed in the game of games and competition…they are here to respond to those very questions that perplex parents and coaches endlessly”.

The Speaker Series will cover seven relevant and related topics titled:

- Concussion Awareness

- Environmental Concerns for Athletes

- General Medical Conditions: Pearls for Parents and Coaches

- Summer’s Comin’ – Preparing my kids for the hot summer programs

- Pediatric Athletes: They are not just small adults

- I hurt my knee, what could it be??

- Nutritional Concerns for Athletes

Each session will be presented by the top notch professionals from our partners at Righttime Medical Care and Towson Sports Medicine.

The sessions will be held multiple times during the coming months. We’ve arranged for each presentation to take place in each of our four regions. If you miss one, there’s a good chance, it will be taking place at another time that might be more convenient for you. Best yet, they are FREE to attend. All we ask is that you register in advance to assure you have space and so our presenters can appropriately prepare for their presentation.

For a brochure sharing descriptions, dates, times and locations, all you have to do is click here. You can register with the registration form which is part of the link to the Recreation and Parks webpage, simply email recparks@baltimorecountymd.gov, or call 410-887-5889.

It’s good to know what to do, and better knowing when you are informed by a professional in the field. Please join us and learn from some “out-standing” professionals in their field!
