Baltimore Ravens' Tray Walker Dies from Crash Injuries

The Miami area native was a rookie cornerback. He was riding a motorcycle Thursday and was not wearing a helmet, police said.

BALTIMORE, MD — Baltimore Ravens rookie cornerback Tray Walker has died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash in Dade County Florida , reports said Friday.

NFL.com's Ian Rappaport reported that Walker's agent announced the player's death Friday afternoon. The rookie had suffered serious head injuries -- he was not wearing a helmet when he crashed his motorcycle -- and was pronounced dead at 5 p.m. Friday.

NBC Miami reports that Walker, 23, was fatally injured in the accident, which happened Thursday night in Liberty City in Northwest Miami.

The Miami-Dade Police Department says a motorcycle and an SUV were involved in the crash.

Walker was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, the team says.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Walker spent all night in surgery.

Walker's agent, Ronald Butler, told Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun on Thursday, "I’m going to be honest. We’re praying that he’s able to fight through it."

Ravens' management has not yet commented on Walker's death, although the Ravens Twitter feed is sharing messages of condolence from players and fans.

Walker was riding a Honda dirt bike that collided with a Ford Escape at a four-way stop intersection Thursday night, the team says. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Miami Police told reporters that Walker’s bike did not have headlights and he was wearing dark clothes at the time of the accident. Walker was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the SUV stayed on the scene and was cooperative with the police investigation. However, investigators are looking for a member of the New England Patriots who may have witnessed the crash, according to WPLG Local 10 in Miami.
