Brown sexually assaulted the victim at his home on two separate occasions between July and November 2020, according to detectives. On March 8, police in Baltimore County notified the Bladensburg Police Department, where he works. Officials at the town police department in Prince George's County said the corporal was placed on administrative leave March 9 and has been suspended pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

“The allegation is extremely disturbing for our department and our community," Bladensburg Police Chief Tyrone Collington Sr. said in a statement.

Brown is an eight-year veteran assigned to the community action team in Bladensburg, police said. He has been suspended, according to the Bladensburg Police Department, which is reviewing its town youth development programs.

"We hold our officers to the highest standards of the law and this does not reflect the professionalism, dedication or commitment of the men and women of the Bladensburg Police Department and their service to our community," Collington said in a statement. "Please always talk to your children and encourage them to speak up if someone hurts them. We will stand up for them and seek justice."

A warrant was issued for Brown's arrest Monday, April 19, and he turned himself in on Thursday, April 22, police reported.

Brown is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail pending a bail review hearing, officials said.

"The incident under investigation occurred while Brown was off-duty, outside of our jurisdiction, and did not involve any residents of Bladensburg," police in Bladensburg said. "However, given the sensitive nature of the allegation, our department has launched a review of our Town Youth Development Programs. We are asking anyone who has any concerns to please contact the Bladensburg Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit at 301-864-6080 immediately."

An internal affairs investigation will occur in Bladensburg after the criminal proceedings have concluded.
