Boyfriend of Korryn Gaines Facing Drugs and Weapons Charges
Authorities found heroin and a gun that Gaines reportedly used to threaten a tactical officer while searching the apartment.

RANDALLSTOWN, MD — The boyfriend of Korryn Gaines, the woman fatally shot by Baltimore County police on Monday, was charged with distributing heroin from the Sulky Court apartment.
According to police, detectives found the heroin while executing a search warrant as the apartment as part of a criminal investigation into the police-involved shooting. Authorities found a total of 26.7 grams of heroin. Authorities also recovered the Mossberg pistol grip shotgun they say Gaines used to assault the tactical officer, as well as numerous shotgun shells. Gaines, 23, threatened to kill the tactical officer, police said.
Kareem Courtney, 39, faces several drugs and firearms charges. He is not allowed to own of have access to firearms or weapons because of his previous criminal record. He was convicted of attempted murder in 1996 and sentenced to eight years. He also has prior convictions for drug distribution and firearms violations.

He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
Courtney was in the Sulky Court apartment with Gaines on Monday when police went to serve arrest warrants on the couple. Courtney, who was served a warrant for second-degree assault, was arrested after leaving the apartment when authorities announced their presence. Gaines, who police say was armed, remained inside with her five-year-old son and was killed after an hours long standoff.

Her son who was caught in the crossfire was injured after being struck by an officer's bullet.
