Chesapeake Collectibles’ fourth season premieres on Maryland Public Television

Season launches Jan. 9 with Louis Vuitton trunk and Robert E. Lee death mask

Maryland Public Television’s series Chesapeake Collectibles launches an all-new fourth season on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on MPT-HD starting January 9, 2014                                                                                   

Chesapeake Collectibles is an educational and entertaining half-hour program that features antiques and collectibles from around the world. Hosted by MPT’s Rhea Feikin, the series explores the personal stories and family histories of the collectors of these heirlooms from across the Chesapeake region.

The season premiere includes a Louis Vuitton trunk, a death mask of Robert E. Lee, and behind-the-scenes illustrations of the Supreme Court.  It also features hundreds of valuable gem brooches acquired by a collector at yard sales.                                                                        

The fourth season programs feature a new segment called “Appraiser Highlights,” which offers tips for finding quality antiques. Appraisers discuss topics ranging from “how to spot a fake” to “what makes good art.”  The series also includes feature stories that take viewers beyond the studio, including an outing to Maryland’s electric guitar designer Paul Reed Smith and a trip to Williamsburg to explore 18th and 19th century furnishings of the rich and famous.

Viewers also will learn how they can bring in their own collectibles during the filming of the fifth Chesapeake Collectibles series in 2014. Visit www.chesapeakecollectibles.com.
