Council Votes on Solo Cup Rezoning Tonight
The Baltimore County Council votes on rezoning issues at its meeting tonight. Included in those issues is Greenberg Gibbons' request to rezone the vacant Solo Cup plant in Owings Mills from manufacturing to retail.
After months of debate between developers, special interest and community groups and council members, the fate of the vacant Solo Cup plant on Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills will be decided Tuesday.
The Baltimore County Council meets at 6 p.m. in Towson tonight to vote on all comprehensive zoning map process (CZMP) requests. Among those requests is one that would to allow retail on the site.
Developer Greenberg Gibbons is seeking the rezoning to make way for a that would be anchored by Wegmans, and house a national fitness center, a national sporting goods retailer, a national shoe retailer and 40,000 square feet of office space.

The development, called Foundry Row, has been the subject of during the summer. Developers behind two other Owings Mills projects have , citing traffic congestion and an overabundance of retail among their concerns. A group called the Say No To Solo Coalition has tried to drum up community opposition with a petition, online campaign and other efforts.
Although Say No to Solo has been and connections to Greenberg Gibbons, its leader has . Some believe the money may be coming from developers and public relations companies who have publicly opposed Foundry Row.
