ABOUT US
Playtime Arts Academy provides in-home piano, guitar, and voice lessons throughout the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area. Our enthusiastic, people-friendly, classically trained instructors know how to make music lessons fun. We specialize in patience and encouragement while teaching students music theory, how to construct original compositions, and to play and sing with expression. Students are encouraged to perform in our local recitals.
WHY CHOOSE US?
Our teachers have been educated at respected institutions such as Peabody Institute, Maryland Institute College of Art, Towson State University, University of Maryland, Goucher College and Julliard. All are comfortable working with children ages 5+. Focused on in-home safety, our qualified instructors bring their teaching credentials into your home and strive to get to know each student and parent on a personal level.

OUR HISTORY
Playtime Arts Academy was founded in 1997 with only two instructors and has been expanding ever since. We have taught more than 2,000 students primarily in Baltimore and Howard Counties.
Playtime Arts Academy Instructors are all classically trained and highly qualified. We teach piano, guitar, and voice to suit our students' individual learning styles and musical tastes. We also encourage original composition and make lessons fun for kids and adults alike!
Playtime Arts Academy offers free recitals every Spring for all of our students. Recitals are held at the Towson Unitarian Universalist Church on Dulaney Valley Rd. (This facility has also been used by the the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for some of their smaller chamber concerts and has a grand piano and stunning acoustics). Additionally, we occasionally receive requests for auditions to showcase student talent.
MEET THE BUSINESS OWNER
President Scott P. McGowan is a classically trained pianist and guitar player. After teaching for a few years, he had three of his first students audition for the judges of the Maryland State Music Teacher's Association. He was admitted by unanimous vote and by virtue of membership in M.S.M.T.A. was allowed into the National Music Teachers Association. Along with a roster of part-time instructors, he currently provides in-home lessons to students throughout the greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.
