Furniture Company Buys Building on Painters Mill
An Owings Mills commercial furniture company plans to move its corporate headquarters and distribution center to an old manufacturing facility on Painters Mill Road.

A commercial furniture company is moving its headquarters and distribution center to a 100,000-square foot building on 7.5-acres at 10 Painters Mill Road, a company statement said.
Douron Commercial Interiors will move to the location, near where the is expected to be built, in late 2012.
The move by Douron was hailed by Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz as a boon to the corporate culture in Owings Mills, just as retail development is picking up.

The property purchase allows the company to consolidate its operations into one building, a move owner Ronald Hux hopes will increase efficiency. He also said having an accessible office was important to the company.
“We feel our foundation as a business and our ongoing success stems from a good solid brick and mortar building and great team members to service our customers,” Hux said. “People want to know who they are dealing with.
“Owings Mills has been Douron’s home since 1971 and, with this purchase, will continue to be for quite some time.”
The new building was constructed in 1955 and served as a manufacturing facility for past 55 years, but will be renovated to fit the company’s needs, which include a 9,000-square foot furniture showroom.
“Furniture is a very touchy-feely product. Meaning, for example, folks want to see what they are buying,” Hux said. “They want to sit in a chair to make sure it fits them. The showroom will also serve as a training center and meeting space which we intend to share with the business community.”
