Java Mammas Coffee Shop Reopens This Month

A new owner and manager plan to reopen the Main Street coffee house on Monday, March 21.

A regular customer bought the business and plans to tentatively reopen on Monday, March 21, said Nolly Murray, who co-owned the Main Street coffee shop and café with her friend Rebecca Coyle.

“They don’t want to lose any momentum,” Murray said.

Mary Martin is the new owner and her sister, Carrie Gorham, will manage the shop. Murray said the Java Mammas name will remain and the sisters don’t even want to change the colors inside.

Martin was an “everyday customer,” Murray confirmed, and Gorham is a culinary school graduate.

The two sisters are Reisterstown natives and the daughters of , a known community figure who remains active in the Reisterstown Recreation Council.

“They’re locals, so they have a lot of love for the community,” Murray said.

Coyle will help Martin and Gorham get up and running and work at the shop as things get rolling.

Java Mammas served as a community hub, where customers could comfortably relax, work and socialize. Customers paid tribute to Murray and Coyle’s almost seven-year run with a packed and extended on Thursday, March 3, and a “shivah/wake” potluck on Friday, March 4.
