Jemicy School Wins Big at International Thespian Festival
Jemicy students attended the International Thespian Festival in June in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The International Thespian Festival, held at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln from June 19 -21, was not only a valuable and immeasurably exciting experience for Jemicy School’s budding Upper School performing arts students…the icing on the cake news is they won!
Sean Elias, Upper School performing arts teacher, accompanied the students along with Upper School teacher Rose Hansen. Here are the highlights:
The cast of "The Crucible" received a Superior rating from all judges (the highest rating possible) in the Group Acting category. All were awarded a Superior Medal.

Anthony Johnson received a Superior rating from all judges (the highest rating possible) in the Solo Musical Theatre category. AJ was awarded a Superior Medal.
Virginia Bonsal was cast in Dramatists Play Service’s commissioned play (written specifically to be performed at Festival ’17) by acclaimed playwright Max Posner. Her name will appear in the published piece as a member of the original cast! Hers was one of only a handful of roles cast out of 4,000 festival attendees.

All of Jemicy’s juniors who auditioned for performing arts programs during the college auditions held at Festival received at least one, if not multiple callbacks from colleges and universities across the nation!
The Jemicy community could not be more proud of its increasingly talented thespians.
