To celebrate the coming of Kitten Season, on Sunday, March 9 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Baltimore Humane Society will be holding a free Kitten Shower at its no-kill shelter's Cattery. The shower is an instructive and fun event that features demonstrations of bottle feeding kittens. There will also be Ask the Vet, fun “baby” shower games, refreshments, and of course, a registry.
Sadly, six to eight million homeless cats and dogs enter animal shelters every year. About half of these animals are adopted, but tragically, 2.7 million adoptable pets are put down. The majority of animals euthanized are healthy, sweet pets who would have made great companions. By simply spaying and neutering our pets this tragic situation can be remedied.
Baltimore Humane Society is a no-kill shelter that also offers a low cost Veterinary Spay/Neuter & Wellness Center to help people who can't normally afford to spay or neuter their pets. We still, expect, however to get lots and lots of newborn kittens and that means a whole lot of extra care will be needed. Typically, kittens need round the clock bottle feeding and a watchful eye. So we are asking for interested people to sign up as foster parents to help care for the newborns. They can contact dpayne@bmorehumane.org for more information. Or learn more at the Kitte Shower.Date: Saturday, March 9th
