Man Died After Liberty Road Stabbing: Police

The suspect hit the victim with his car, then stabbed him in a parking lot on Liberty Road, police said.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD - One person died after a stabbing and crash on Liberty Road, officials reported Saturday afternoon. The suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, later surrendered in another jurisdiction.

Police said that the suspect hit the victim with his car, then got out of the vehicle and stabbed him several times.

When officers responded to the 7800 block of Liberty Road for a report of a stabbing, they said they found the victim outside.

Raphael M. Happy-Ikenwilo, 53, of the 4300 block of Glenmore Avenue, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased after 4 p.m., police said.

The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, drove from the scene and later surrendered. (For updates on this and more local news, get Patch news alerts or like us on Facebook.)

Based on the initial investigation, authorities said the suspect was dropping his wife off in a parking lot when he saw Happy-Ikenwilo and Happy-Ikenwilo's wife in a vehicle.

As Happy-Ikenwilo was getting out, the suspect rammed his car into him and the vehicle, then stabbed Happy-Ikenwilo repeatedly, police allege. The victim's wife was uninjured, according to police.

Happy-Ikenwilo was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

Charges are pending against the suspect, who police said drove from the scene and later turned himself in at the Howard County Detention Center.
