The new cameras will monitor east and westbound traffic near Lyons Mill Elementary School in Owings Mills.

OWINGS MILLS, MD — Baltimore County police will activate two new speed cameras Friday in response to resident complaints. The cameras will be placed at Lyons Mill Elementary School, located in the 9400 block of Lyons Mill Road.

The speed cameras will monitor east and westbound traffic near the elementary school, police said. Cameras will operate Monday through Friday between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., including during the summer months and on weekdays when school is not in session.

For the first 30 days, drivers exceeding the speed limit by at least 12 mph will receive warnings rather than citations. All speed camera zones will be marked with signage.
