A popular game with campers during the traditional First 100 camp out event, the Foundry Row Chick-fil-A opening has created a customized full-scale Scavenger Hunt. It does not require participants to camp overnight at the new restaurant to win their prize. Up to 100 eligible participants, ages 18 and older, who follow the rules and complete all the required tasks, will win a digital offer card loaded with a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A Meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries and a medium beverage).

Registration for the event will begin at 6 a.m., Aug. 30, at the new Chick-fil-A and will continue until 100 eligible participants are registered or until 11 a.m., whichever comes first. At 9 a.m., those at the restaurant will begin by packing 10,000 meals for Feeding Children Everywhere. Around 10:45 a.m., participants that are signed in are free to begin the scavenger hunt. If more than 100 people are onsite when the line officially opens at 6 a.m., a drawing will be held to select 100 participants.

Those chosen will be required to complete the Scavenger Hunt, as designated by the rules with speed not being a factor. The Scavenger Hunt will involve activities at sites located within a few miles of the new Chick-fil-A. They will return to the restaurant by 3:30 p.m. to show proof of completion and secure their prize as part of the post-event party that will include games and entertainment. After the awards around 5 p.m., all are free to leave. The restaurant will officially open for business the next morning at 6 a.m.

About Franchise Operator Paul Xiong

Xiong’s Chick-fil-A journey began when he was 16 years old at the South Park Mall Chick-fil-A restaurant in Charlotte, N.C. He had a wonderful relationship with his Chick-fil-A Operator who inspired and encouraged Xiong to think about his future with the company. After 10 years of mentorship, Xiong was selected for the company’s interim manager program. He quickly excelled in the position and after less than two years of helping to manage restaurants across the country, Xiong was selected in 2004 to become the Operator of the Chick-fil-A at Owings Mills. His hard work and successes have been recognized by the company – as Xiong has been a member of the Champion’s Club in 2010 and 2011 – one of Chick-fil-A’s highest awards for its Operators. After serving the community for the past 13 years, he is transferring to the new Foundry Row location. Xiong and his wife of 23 years, Mee, have three children.

“My team members and I can’t wait to continue serving the Owings Mills community at the new Foundry Row restaurant” said Xiong. “We’re not just in the chicken business — we’re in the people business. My goal is to grow my employees in leadership and purpose, just as I was, so they will provide our customers with a remarkable experience though serving freshly prepared food with healthy options that guests can truly feel good about eating and provide sincere hospitality.”

Feeding Children Everywhere Event and Book Drive

Reflecting his desire to have a positive impact on the surrounding community, Xiong is funding the opportunity for scavenger hunt guests to pack 10,000 meals as the beginning task at the restaurant at 9 a.m. The event supports Feeding Children Everywhere, a social charity that empowers and mobilizes people to assemble healthy meals for hungry children.

The community is also invited to support the children’s book drive being held during grand opening week. The collected books will be placed in a 3-foot Book House, made from reclaimed wood. Since 2014, Chick-fil-A has collected more than 47,497 books that have been donated to 265 local organizations in 43 states and Washington, D.C.
